While the horsepower increase is minimal. The S4 will receive a slight bump form 333 hp to 340 hp and the new all new seven-speed S-tronic gearbox. It would be the perfect city car yet also great for weekends away. So we hope that they also make the e-quattro an option here as well. Audi has said that the Q7 TDI e-tron will be available in North America. The first electric motor is likely attached to the 190 hp 2.0 TDI via the transmissions with the second motor located in the rear axle. Together they will produce around 136 hp.

It’s apparently a plug-in hybrid with two electric motors. The most interesting of the TDI options is the new 2.0 TDI e-quattro. It also pairs nicely with the upcoming quattro ultra system. We also think that the 190 hp 2.0 TDI quattro would be perfect for North America as it’s the perfect balance of power and fuel economy. It would also be the perfect engine to pair with an e-tron hybrid system. However, we think the 252 hp 2.0 TFSI from the A6/A7 will find it’s way into the B9 A4. It’s a good balance of performance and fuel economy with the possibility of up to 47 mpg. The all-new 190 hp 2.0 TFSI engine makes perfect sense for the North American market. So the tiptronic option may live on for some configurations. The majority of American buyers still prefer the smoother torque-converted automatic. However, based on what we’ve heard, Audi of America is still a bit gun-shy about using the S-tronic gearbox across the board.

We expect Audi to launch an all-new Nine-speed S-tronic. The engine and gearbox options for North American are unknown to us at this point. However, for North American A4 we can expect two TFSI variants including an e-tron along with a TDI option. Most of the engine combinations listed below apply to Europe. There’s a lot of speculation about the engine options. If the current timelines of the RS cars holds we should see an RS 4 two-years after. We expect Audi to unveil the cars in September at the International Motor Show Germany in Frankfurt. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming 2016 B9 A4 & S4.
